Photography is all about using lighting to your advantage and crafting masterpieces! What if you do not have an additional light source and still you have to capture a great moment? Natural light is the best source of light available to you when you are photographing. Its all about manipulating the available light to your advantage to take amazing photographs.

Choose to Photograph the Soft Light instead of the Harsh one:  The major disadvantage of using harsh lighting to capture a shot is that it casts shadows on your photo subject. For example, If you are taking a Portrait snap, It will cast shadow on the face of the model and this could destroy the moment. If your subject is facing a soft light or reflected light, it will look great! An example of natural soft light is photographing when its cloudy or opting to shoot in the golden hours (evening or early morning).

Use the Shadows to your advantage: Some photographs come out exceptionally outstanding when you creatively use the available light and mix it artistically with the shadow it casts, the below image is an example of how well you could use the shadow and create a special mood for the shot.

Always try to use a reflected light source: It could even be a white wall that could be reflecting the harsh sunlight to your subject and this kind of light can give the exact amount of light required for a great photograph. If you have a white or silver reflector that could reflect the sunlight onto the subject, it can do the job.

Check the Histogram before confirming the shot: Checking the histogram is important to make sure you have enough details and this action will make sure that you have further options to touch up the shot while doing the post processing work.
