Use a Tripod and Remote for Low light Conditions
Tripods and especially required when shooting at low light conditions! When clicking a pic at low light conditions, you will require the camera shutter to be open for longer duration to allow maximum light to fall on the camera sensor. This means a photo would take more time and the camera equipment needs to be perfect still for a longer duration which makes it impossible to shoot in a handheld position.
A good quality tripod will adapt to any ground / surface conditions and continue to hold your camera steady through out the shot at longer shutter speeds ( long exposures). You can find good quality alloy tripods that absorbs the slightest of the ground shocks and still continue to remain steady. To take a long exposure steady shot at low light conditions, I recommend 2 additional accessories that you could carry with you:
- A good quality, low weight alloy Tripod
- A small remote control to trigger the shot without a click
